A dreamer with a tendancy to over-reach himself, Danny is never discouraged by failure - he believes the next big thing is always just around the corner. The problem, from his wife Evelyn's point of view, is that each failed venture just begets an even larger, more outrageous venture and it's all culminated into the move to Meadowlands.

But underneath her cool and ironic exterior, Zoe is afraid. Similar to Danny, she sees Meadowlands as a fresh start where she can work to bind her parents together again.

Mark is Zoe's twin brother. To outsiders, their relationship seems distant and non-verbal. But that's only because each instinctively knows what the other is thinking - therefore talk is superfluous. Mark spent the first 3 weeks of his life in an incubator. Evelyn was so shaken by this that she babied him - another sore in the Brogan marriage. Danny wanted Mark to have a more robust upbringing - Evelyn tried to bubble-wrap him. Evelyn, although she wouldn't admit it to Danny's face, fears he might be right.
