Synopsis Reuniting the creative forces behind Shaun of the Dead, this hilarious comedy stars Simon Pegg as Nicholas Angel, a top London cop who finds himself reassigned to the sleepy West Country village of Sandford.
With garden parties and neighbourhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Pegg struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with an oafish but well meaning young constable (Nick Frost). Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates them into action. Convinced of foul play, our man from London realises that this sleepy hamlet may not be as idyllic as it seems - much to his relief.
The superb cast includes Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Edward Woodward, Steve Coogan, Timothy Dalton and Paddy Considine, with an excellent soundtrack from Adam & The Ants, XTC, The Kinks, Stavely Makepeace, Tub Thumper, The Troggs, The Move, Sweet, Dire Straits, T. Rex, Supergrass and Jon Spencer & The Elegant Too just to name a few.
TRIVIA: Sandford, the "fictional" setting for the film, is the name of the town used as the setting for all police training role plays; Nick Frost is in fact a West Ham fan and hated wearing the Bristol Rovers shirt; when Simon Skinner passes the blown up house "Fire" by "The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown" is playing in his car; the fruit machine appearing in the village pub is the same "Ooh Ah Dracula" fruit machine that appeared in The Winchester in Shaun of the Dead.
