Synopsis
Based on a real life case, this confronting story tells of a group of friends growing up together in the suburbs of LA, living their own version of the American dream, where every day was a blur of partying and looking for the next thrill.

Nick Cassevetes directs Emile Hirsch as the over-indulged, arrogant Johnny, the leader in their sordid world of drugs, greed, power and privilege. When he is double-crossed by another dealer, things quickly begin to spiral out of control and an impulsive kidnapping leads to a shocking conclusion.

Justin Timberlake, Sharon Stone and Bruce Willis co-star in this powerful and controversial film with Shawn Hatosy as the gullible Elvis. Soundtrack includes Tech Nine, David Bowie, Eminem and Tupac.

After the end credits, the following caption appears; For Nickey, May Your Slumber Be Blessed ('Nickey' is Nicholas Markowitz - the 'true' name of ill-fated Zack Mazursky played by Anton Yelchin).

TRIVIA:
To prepare for his role, Ben Foster asked one of his friends who was an ex-crystal meth addict for guidance. The friend introduced him to a group of people who gave Foster an all-access pass into the lifestyle; Ben Foster risked his sight for the movie by adding glaucoma drops to his eyes for much of the shoot to dilate his pupils, making him appear to be high; the film begins with actual home video of some of the cast members when they were children. Anton Yelchin (Zack Mazursky) is the last child shown.
