Synopsis
In this thought-provoking Oscar and Golden Globe-winning film, based on Ian McEwan's celebrated novel, Joe Wright (Pride & Prejudice) directs Oscar nominee Keira Knightley and Golden Globe nominee James McAvoy in this haunting story spanning the decades from the interwar period to the turn of the millennium.

Robbie Turner (McAvoy) is wrongfully accused of a crime, so he enlists in the armed forces to avoid jail time and must survive WWII in order to return home to his one true love: the exquisite Cecilia Tallis (Knightley).

Nominated for seven Oscars and winner of Best Achievement in Music, the superb cast includes Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave, Oscar nominee Brenda Blethyn, Patrick Kennedy (Bleak House) and Romola Garai.

TRIVIA:
The small English town of Redcar stood in for the French city of Dunkirk; the 4.5 minute long Dunkirk beach scenes took under five takes to film; the Dunkirk street scenes and generator room scenes were filmed on Grimsby Docks; the green dress Keira Knightley wore in the film has been named "the best of all time" by InStyle magazine.
