Synopsis
Gene Wilder stars as Duffy Berman who desperately wants to be a family man in this tender romantic comedy directed by Leonard Nimoy, but his young wife (Christine Lahti) has career plans so he begins a comic quest for fulfilment. The story centres on the self-involved Berman's mid-life quest to father a child when his marriage fails to produce one and his impregnation of earthy college co-ed Daphne (Mary Stuart Masterson).

Conceived by producer Jon Avnet after reading an article in Esquire Magazine by syndicated columnist Bob Greene titled "Convention of the Love Goddesses".
