Starring Gene Wilder, Richard Pryor, Kevin Spacey, Joan Severance
Director Arthur Hiller
Year 1989
Genre Comedy
Synopsis Directed by Oscar-nominee Arthur Hiller, Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor reunite with the same sweet, silly chemistry that powered them to success in Silver Streak and Stir Crazy.
Wally (Pryor) and Dave (Wilder) run a newsstand in New York. Wally, loud-mouthed and cocky, is blind, while quiet, polite Dave is deaf. When a man is murdered outside their newsstand, they are the only witnesses: Dave saw someone's (fabulous) legs and Wally smelled her Shalimar perfume. But the police think they've collared their first deaf and blind murderers. Forced to go on the run to clear their names, Wally and Dave somehow manage to outrun and outwit the entire New York City police force and a mysterious band of ruthless criminals, including a beautiful, enigmatic killer (Joan Severance) and her ice-cold partner (Kevin Spacey).
Trivia: Gene Wilder went to the NY League for the Hard of Hearing to study for his role, and he was assigned to his future wife, Karen Boyer.
