Synopsis Martin Lawrence (Bad Boys) stars as Miles Logan, a master jewel thief who has a $20 million problem - recently released from prison he's anxious to retrieve the huge diamond he hid in a construction site two years ago.
Unfortunately, Logan's hiding place is now the home of the 37th L.A. Police Precinct and he must pose as a detective to retrieve his prize. He makes such a good impression that his new boss sends him out on the streets to serve and protect as his life of crime has given him all the skills to be a good cop. It all gets extremely complicated when his former bumbling partner (Dave Chappelle) resurfaces for his cut of the action.
Trivia: during pre-production, film was originally supposed to carry an R rating, but the studio had to tone down the film's script to PG-13. This meant changing the plot, dialogue and characters. John August was hired as a "script doctor" to make these changes.
