Synopsis
Winona Ryder makes her film debut in this tender and realistic view of the growing pains of youth from director David Seltzer. In this touching coming-of-age tale, Corey Haim stars as Lucas; a poor, brilliant and myopic runt who is befriended by Maggie, a pretty, kind-hearted girl who finds Lucas endearing. To impress Maggie, Lucas coerces his way into playing in a school football game only to end up in the hospital. When he returns to school, he still doesn't have Maggie, but he does finally have the respect of the other students who applaud his courage and his fierce determination.

Support cast includes Kerri Green and Martin Sheen.
