Synopsis
One of Steven Spielberg's lesser known films, this is an effects-laden fantasy. A flying ace is killed in action, only to returns as a spirit with a mission - to comfort the girl he left behind and inspire a young gun to take his place in the air and in her heart. Loosely based on the WWII Action film A Guy Named Joe, what this restrained drama lacks in wartime urgency it makes up for with Spielberg's masterful direction, especially in the aerial sequences, John Goodman's stalwart support, and Audrey Hepburn's enduring radiance.
