All The Right Moves
M sl
Starring Tom Cruise, Craig T. Nelson, Lea Thompson
Director Michael Chapman
Year 1983
Genre Drama
Synopsis In the landmark role that launched his career, Oscar nominee Tom Cruise is Stefan, the tormented football hero of a bleak American steel town who locks horns over his future with tough-minded coach Craig T. Nelson.
Nelson would reprise this role later in the popular TV series Coach while Cruise's devoted onscreen girlfriend, Lea Thompson, would star later in Caroline in the City.
TRIVIA: The uniforms and team colours used were from Ferndale Area High School, a small high school in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, where the film was shot; the director wanted Lea Thompson and Tom Cruise to go undercover to remember what high school was like. They went to separate schools, and while Cruise was spotted after just one day because someone recognised him from Taps (1981), Thompson went four days, was asked out by many guys and got caught smoking.
