Synopsis
Oscar nominee Annette Bening stars as the emotionally unstable, aspiring-poet Deirdre Burroughs in this Golden Globe nominated debut feature for Nip/Tuck writer Ryan Murphy, relating the traumatic childhood of writer Augusten Burroughs, superbly portrayed by Joseph Cross.

After his parents' divorce, Augusten is abandoned by his neurotic mother and sent to live with her fraudulent psychiatrist, the manipulative Dr Finch (Golden Globe nominee Brian Cox), and his eccentric extended family: Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow and Golden Globe nominee Evan Rachel Wood as his adopted daughters; Oscar nominee Jill Clayburgh as his long-suffering wife with a penchant for kibble and Joseph Fiennes as his 33-year-old adopted son.

Rounding out the superb ensemble cast is Oscar nominee Alec Baldwin, Gabrielle Union and Kristin Chenoweth.
