Synopsis
Based on Robert Penn Warren's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Oscar winner Steven Zaillian directs and produces this riveting thriller about an idealist's rise to power in the world of Louisiana politics and the corruption that leads to his ultimate downfall.

Features an all-star cast including Oscar winner Sean Penn as Huey P Long, Kate Winslet, James Gandolfini, Mark Ruffalo, Patricia Clarkson and Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins.

TRIVIA:
Writer/director Steven Zaillian never saw the original film and adapted the screenplay solely from Robert Penn Warren's novel; in the last 10 minutes of the film when Willie and Sugar get in the elevator, as the elevator goes down, the camera passes over a seal on the wall between floors. The seal is of Huey P. Long.
