Synopsis
Based on a novel by Patrick McGrath, Natasha Richardson stars as Stella Raphael, a psychiatrist's wife living at a maximum security asylum outside London with her husband Max.

Stella develops a curious attraction to inmate Edgar (New Zealand-born AFI winner Marton Csokas). As the attraction blossoms into a passionate affair, Stella becomes aware of Edgar's history: he murdered his wife in a jealous rage six years ago. Max and his colleague, Edgar's psychiatrist Peter Cleave (Oscar nominee Sir Ian McKellen), are powerless to stop their torrid affair which leads to startling and unexpected consequences in this tale of passion, obsession and manipulation.

TRIVIA:
Both Marton Csokas and Ian McKellan have appeared in The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring and The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King; Natasha Richardson's leading man would have been husband Liam Neeson but for his contractual ties with Kinsey.
