Children Of Men
MA v
Starring Clive Owen, Michael Caine, Julianne Moore
Director Alfonso Cuaron
Year 2006
Genre Thriller
Synopsis Alfonso Cuaron (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) directs Oscar nominees Clive Owen, as Theo - a disillusioned ex-activist turned bureaucrat, and Julianne Moore as Julian, leader of a terrorist group The Fishes.
Together they must find a safe haven for a pregnant African refugee whose baby could be used as a political tool in this exploration of a world where two decades of global human infertility have left humanity with less than a century to survive.
Adapted from a novel by P. D. James, Children of Men is as suspenseful and thrilling as it is thought-provoking.
Support includes Oscar winner Michael Caine, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Kinky Boots) and Danny Huston (The Proposition).
Trivia: Artworks by British guerrilla artist, Banksy, appear throughout the film; Theo is seen wearing a London 2012 Olympics fleece in the Bexhill tower block scene; when Miriam is taken off the bus in the refugee camp you can hear the song "Arbeit Macht Frei" by The Libertines, meaning "Work shall set you free", it was written above the entrance at Auschwitz.
